For most of my adult life I have been fascinated by birds and took a bird anatomy workshop with illustrator John Anderson. Some of the drawings shown here were drawn from life by visiting zoos or from taxidermied animals in the Denver Science and Nature Museum dioramas.
In 2022, Joan published a book of her paintings titled Painting Colorado: A Watercolor Journal. Although most of the artwork in the book are watercolor paintings, there are also colored pencil drawings. For more information about the book and to view sample pages, go to Publications .
